Lithothamnion is an oceanic algae that is a source of easily assimilated calcium and magnesium. Lithothamnion is useful in cases of deficient rations and in horses that show signs of demineralization. This algae is also recommended in cases of gastric acidity.
LITHOTHAMNE – Lithothamnium calcareum . Corallinaceae family
Lithothamnion is a calcareous algae that has the particularity of capturing minerals contained in seawater in ionized form. Lithothamnion is purplish-red in color. It is found on the Atlantic coast, particularly in Brittany, but also in the Mediterranean at depths of 15 to 20 cm.
Components : minerals (calcium, sodium, magnesium, iodine, iron, manganese, silica, etc.), amino acids, vitamin C, aspartic and glutamic acid, alginates.

Minerals and trace elements crystallize once the seaweed is harvested. It thus becomes an excellent alkaline source. For this reason, lithothamnium is composed of 33% calcium carbonate.
